Had to do a restore (used the Dell XP disk that came with the laptop) on my Dell E1705.

Every thing went fine with restore except I can not connect to the internet and wireless does not come up. I tried FN+F2 to enable it but it has no effect.

Network connection show 1394. When I double click on it, it show connected.

Also Device Manager does not show a wireless adapter, just the 1394

Thanks in advance for your help.

You should have a driver install cd that will install all the needed drivers for that model. If not, give me the model of computer you have so we can direct you to the correct drivers on their website.

Update. I am a bonehead. I forgot to install the drivers. I loaded the wireless driver and everything is working fine now.

Side caveat. I loaded 2 different drivers (wireless and wireless/LAN) from the driver’s cd. That screwed up the boot and it would not start.

I did a system restore to a good known working boot and loaded just the wireless driver. That was the final fix.
