i am currently running a nvidia GeForce 9800 gt with dual monitors on it my motherboard (Asus m3a78-cm) also has a VGA port on the back of it. is there any way i can connect my 3rd monitor (22" vizio HDtv) to this port to run a 3rd monitor?

I doubt it, it's either using the onboard or dedicated, not both. Sadly.

so my best bet is to get another video card to run more than 2 monitors...
