So lately my computer has gotten older and most new games minimum is well above what i can run, here is what i think i want to get but not positive if its worth what im buying for and if all compatible.

120 - nvidia gtx 550 ti 1gb
260 - intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield
100 - Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W
73 - Western Digital RE4 WD5003ABYX 500GB
100 - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
80 - CORSAIR Vengeance 12GB (3 x 4GB)
122 - GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68

Total - 855

Still debating if i will get a water cooling system with the case having several fans and if to get a new monitor as old one is still fine. Any advice is welcome.

Welcome to Computerforum,

That build list you done,The Cpu and Motherboard is not compatible.

You would be needing a LGA 1155 processor for that motherboard, also You would be wanting Dual channel memory so 2x 2GB or 2x 4 GB Sticks.

Whats your Max budget...and i take it you will be gaming on the system?
Do you have a OS?

yeah, there are many probs with that list, like he asked, budget and do you already have anything.

no this is a theoretical build at the moment, my max budget is around 1000 dollars ( i can go above a bit but rather not). And yes i have Windows 7 for my new build i will be getting. Also yes i will be gaming on it.
And on the memory if it can hold 3 sticks i will keep one as a back up just incase one fails or something.

ok so i found a new motherboard

190 - ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

also another question is to whether i should invest in a water cooling system or will the fans from the parts and the integrated ones in the case suffice?
thanks

water cooling for what your building with just waste money imo, and also i would go for a different cpu and motherboard, even a i5 sandy bridge or something

well if it's theoretical i'm guessing you mean it will take a while before you start, and there is new stuff coming out over the next 6 months so it will be an outdated blue-print by then, and this current one is already outdated a good bit, this is what you should look for

220-i5 2500k
50/60-8gb's (2x4gb) ddr3 1600mhz ram
60-samsung f3 itb hdd
160-gigabyte z68 mobo
60-corsair cx600
220-gtx560ti
60-coolermaster haf
28-coolermaster 212 cpu cooler

thats more than my build... this is 868 when mine is 855...

and that's with an optional 28 buck cooler, and you said a budget of like 1k, so what's up with 13 buck over what you put that is almost 150 under what you said you'd go to. especially since in gaming this will kill your list, and it will also kill it in most other things too, i7 isn't worth it unless you plan to do like 1 or 2 things involving coding which is threaded to use those extra threads on the i7.

Which monitor do you have and its resolution so that we can choose a GPU appropriately.
And as Nevakonaza already pointed it out that the CPU and the motherboard are incompatible.

And if you will be using the computer only for gaming and some other general stuff then 12GB of RAM is completely pointless.
And I would not get the Antec 900 since it has a poor cable management.

53 - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
140 (120 w/rebate) - nvidia gtx 550 ti 1gb
73 - Western Digital RE4 WD5003ABYX 500GB
100 - Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W
210 - Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz
122 - GIGABYTE GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68

total - 698

compared to the 855 build would it be better to invest more to be better longer? thanks

please link a case that has good cable management and good built in cooling

i already posted one with good management, the cooler master haf, not sure which model but one is like 60 or less, also the rosewill destroyer is good too and a few others

and for the new list you put, why do you keep putting that hdd, the f3 will be almost as fast, cost less, and have 2x the memory.

also why the psu, unless you are getting 2 of that 550ti then 750 is wasteful, and for the price just get a hd 5/6770, will perform the same and be less.

when are you, or are you, planning to purchase these parts, i already told you once that if you are planning to buy these in a few months or over time buy them seperately, you are making a huge mistake, there are many new parts coming out over the next half year so by the time you finish doing that you will be buying outdated parts that cost more than newer ones that are faster, like people who did this with the lga1156's and 1366's, by the time they're finishing this sandy bridge is out and it runs up to 40% faster than the ones they have, and it costs less than almost all the equivilant clocked ones, and those are still slower too.

Im going to be purchasing them around the end of the year maybe december or january. Also i know things will be cheaper but i will post another build in this and was wondering how much cheaper it would be in 5-6 months.

73 - Western Digital RE4 WD5003ABYX 500GB
100 - COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Stee
100 - Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W
190 - ASUS Sabertooth X58 LGA 1366 Intel X58
285 - Intel Core i7-960 Bloomfield 3.2GHz
240 - GIGABYTE GV-R695OC-1GD Radeon HD 6950
53 - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
1041 total

I havent bought anything related to computers in over 6 years so im way out of the loop on whats worth what. Really im just trying to find a way to buy a computer that plays current games at the cheapest price.

your best bet is to come back here when your going to buy the stuff then because no one will really know how much cheaper it will be then

i mean about how much does stuff go down when new stuff comes out? 20,30% or what?
im really trying to find out is when i buy my new computer if it will be decently priced and will last me as long as my current computer

for like the third time now, that psu is overkill unless you get 2 of the gpu, the i7 2600k is much much faster for a little more, so go down to like the gigabyte z68 or p67 ud3 or ud4, or an asus p8p67 motherboard, and the samsung f3 is barely slower for a good bit less and twice the memory, that wd is a waste, and lastly, you still haven't put in a windows disk which i'm fairly sure is a must, they are 100 for the 64-bit oem which is what you need.

thanks for not answering my question about cost going down..
-Psu i just got it for long lasting but a CORSAIR Professional Series HX650 is the same price so thats cool.

60 - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB HD
100 - CORSAIR Professional Series HX650
315 - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
53 - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3
115 - GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68
165 - SAPPHIRE 100315L Radeon HD 6850

I found this amazing deal on the PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207011
$90 for an 850W. And rock solid build quality since it is a seasonic unit.
BTW I am not saying you go for PSU with a high wattage, but since you seem to keen on doing so it is none of my business.

Do not worry about the price going down, since if you do you will never be able to purchase anything.
The PSU's and Case's value won't depreciate much in 6 months.
The processor's and Motherboard's value would come down, but not a lot since it.
I think the worst price depreciation would be faced by the GPU.

90 bucks for a 850w is probably by a second name brand and bad parts. Plus i dont need that much power 750w was just for enough for a crossfire if i wanted it later. i know the psu and case wont go down just wondering when i do buy all of it (around january) if it was going to go down.
