Hi, im pretty new at computers, and i would like your imput on which computer i should get. I cant decide on whether to get a MAC or a PC. I was completey for getting a mac, but now after looking at the specs, im not sure. What im going to do with either computer, is buy Microsoft office, HD PVR, EYETv if i get a mac, or Sony Vegas for PC. I plan on playing minecraft on the computer and i really want to do mods for minecraft( and i know its a lot harder on mac), also i will record gamplay from my ps3 or xbox, and i wanna store lots of gameplay. So thats basically what im gunna do with the computers, so now i tell you which computers im considering. The mac is the $1499 model, with no upgrades but the PC is a customized. The specs: Operating system:Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium [64-bit], Processor: AMD Phenom(TM) X4 960T quad-core processor [3.0GHz, 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz], Memory: 8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [2 DIMMs], and Hard drive: 1.5TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive. So i think thats it, if you have any more qyuestions or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I think the price after the hd pvr and other stuff for the mac is $1927, and the pc final price is around $1638, if that matters. Thanks, Ben

build a PC or your going to get completely ripped off, and another thing too, microsoft office sucks complete ass IMO there are many better options for that, whats your budget and location maybe we can get a good build for you?

Mmm. I really don't think it's good advice to push building on everyone who comes here wanting a new PC. I mean, yeah, let's through that option out there, but some people would really rather not try and do it themselves. If you buy from the right people the pre-builts aren't bad at all. Then again, this all depends on if the OP wants to build or not.

As far as what you need: Not a whole lot. I would either get the MAC, or completely re-work the PC you are talking about (can you link the site you are building it on). Paying $1600+ for that processor is just a waste of money. for that price, you can get something much better. Like I said though, you don't really need something that powerful for what you are doing. So just give us some more info and we will help you out the best we can.

true about the building thing, although i first came here with no intent at all to ever buil a pc in my life, but after realizing how much better quality, and cheaper it is to do that, i will never buy a pre built PC again. and IMO macs are cool, but just way overpriced

I would either build a PC for Mac Lion OS or buy a Mac, and then use Windows Parallel (for MAC) to install a Windows OS. That way, you get the leisure of using a Mac, while being able to be completely compatible with any Windows software. Windows Parallel allows the Mac to create a dual boot with a Windows OS.

only prob with that is only certain mobos can use mac or something like that from what i've heard, or you can do something that is completely against forum rules to speak of, idk if it's illegal or what, but it's all on the shush list.
