I'm trying to download a program which says "It's a free download" however when I try and save it, it only gives me about 2%. Adobe Reader X and just about any so called free download. You have to be connected to the Internet otherwise you can't get it and this is on most so called free download because I try and download so I can take it to another computer which is a stand-alone. It seems like you can't do anything without being connected to the Web including playing games and so forth. It looks like our society doesn't want you to do anything on your computer without big brother knowing about it. Maybe someone can tell why this is?

Can you share what exactly are your trying to download.. More information about that and I may be able to help you.

Another note, you could play games on your offline computer there are plenty well, hundreds of games you can play offline you just need to find them some are good some are bad some are free some are paid.

i believe he is talking about multiple programs from the "Adobe Reader X and just about any so called free download" part. But from reading it it sounds like you are trying to download it without the internet? Which is impossible, it's just sort of hard to tell exactly what you are doing. Also, where are you trying to download these from?

I'm downloading a program which is only a couple of K but the program itself in 50 Megs so they want you to download a little program to activate their server to put it on your computer but they will not give you the entire program because it's on their server and you can't get it and if you can then tell me where I can get the entire adobe X so I can put it on a flash drive and walk it over to my bedroom where my other computer is that is not connected to the Internet. Now you are going to find most free download are like this and my question is Why?

If you google search whatever program you are wanting and then put offline installer afterwards you should get a link to download the full program. For example, the link I posted above came from a hit on this google search.

http://www.google.com/search?source...US429US429&q=adobe+reader+x+offline+installer

You'll find that one of links I gave you came from the first link on that search. Also if you search the site you are at, for example www.adobe.com for adobe reader x.

http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO

click the link and then when the page loads, you will see where it says "do you have a different language or operating system?" in blue. click that. select your operating system and language and you will get the full download. Most websites will have this feature, sometimes you just have to hunt for the link. You can do the same thing for the java software. Just search for offline installer.

and most programs like that have installers, so if you tell it to download to the desktop, then there will be the installer, then move it to the usb drive and go install it.

I downloaded about 70 megs but it has a DMG extention which I could not install without the Webs help so I'm back to where I started. Do you know how I can get an exe extention so I can intstall it on my computer that's not hook up to the Internet.
