HP troubles

I'm working on a HP pavilion a1310y for a coworker. It has a built in ethernet plug but it doesn't show up in the device manager. According to HP it is an ASUS: PTGD-LA board with a RealTek RTL8101L 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet controller. I installed a driver but it still doesn't show up in the device manager. I've searched all over and can't seem to find a solution. I hope one of you can help me. :confused:
 
By chance, its not disabled in the bios is it? If its enabled and its not showing up with or without the driver installed, its probable shot. You can get a LAN PCI card to replace it.
 
Yes I checked there too. The pci Ports must not work either because I plugged in a ethernet card and windows doesn't recognize it. I tried both Ports and a different card.
