hi my computer is an HP xw4600 workstation. I have wanted to upgrade the video card for awhile but I'm not sure what i need. I am a gamer so id like to be able to play high end games. I've been looking at several cards online but im unsure, so i thought i would ask some knowledgeable people on the subject. if you need any more info just ask and thank-you very much!

what is your budget and also is this just a default one or what cuz the psu's they ship with everything just plain suck.

Yeah its the default it has a pci-e x16 slot 75 w as well as a pci-e x8 slot. As well budget is around 500, but i probably don't want to spend that much. Whatever gets me gaming on high video settings

What processor have you got? It ranges from a Core 2 quad 9650 down to a Pentium dual core 5200

well then i guess look at thesse, going from least to most powerfull, and the first will do good-great on every game out, but won't max anything current, second will get pretty close but won't max much current, and the third will max everything out today and for a little longer.

Thanks. but would i need a better power supply to power the video card? My friend upgrade his but he apparently needed to buy a better power supply, so im just wondering if i would have to do the same

can you look inside the case and in either the top or bottom left corner will be a box with all the cords coming out, look on there for a brand and hopefully a model too, on the info it says a 475w 85% efficient psu, but if it is a bad brand (which i know newegg doesn't carry any of that watt from the good brands, although oems will order special ones sometimes prob) it might need to be replaced, that's why i put that psu as my first link in my post, then three decent to great cards.

So its a delta electronics and the model number is DPS-475CB A Which im guessing is the 475 watt? Also would you recommend any other upgrades?

Before I suggest a video card, since its a OEM case pop the side off and see how much room you have for a card. On the inside measure from the back I/O panel to the front, probably the hardrive cage, to see how much room you have.
