New Build

Hey, guys. I'm working on putting together a build for under $400, and I think I got it. All this is from newegg.

Motherboard

I picked this one because it's a microATX, it will fit in the microATX cases, and I'll probably be bringing it back and forth to and from a friends house for parties and such. It doesn't have an HDMI port, but the video card will. Also, it has the 6 gb/s SATA ports, and LGA1155 socket which is probably the most common processor port.

Processor

My only prerequisites were that it be Intel Sandy Bridge technology, and at least 3 gHz. This is the cheapest, and is easily upgradable in the future.

Video Card

I was looking for something at a low price point with at least 1 gb of vram.

RAM

Again, I was looking for 240 pin, DDR3 at 1333mhz, and at 8 gbs. This was the cheapest from a reputable manufacturer.

Hard Drive

500 Gbs is plenty for me. I have a laptop that I'll use for daily stuff, as this computer will be solely for gaming and what not. I figure that should be plenty of space. I like the price point, but I'm wondering whether I might go for a smaller drive with a larger cache, or whether the high RPMs and transfer speed will make up for it.

Disk Drive

And a cheap drive is all I need.

Power Supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182006

I really only need 270watts (acorrding to new egg's calculator), and this one was reviewed rather well.

Case

I like the handle, and while the power button seems to be frail, at $20, I can just order 2 and replace it if/when it happens.

Any thoughts would be great. I'm not planning on doing anything great and powerful on this, but I would like to play most games at at least 25fps. Guidance and wisdom would be great, as this is my first build.

well you'll have to get an os disk too and i would rec a few changes, i'm gunna look around real quick.

depending on what you play an amd phenom 965 might be better and cheaper since it's 15 off, but really i'd say to save a little longer cuz that psu just sucks, the case does too really, and the gpu does too other than straight bottoming out every game.

really 500 is the best spot to be getting a good quality computer, and for that 100 extra the performance will jump up a good bit.

16gb of ram is overkill, but for 20 more then why not :D

most people forget os is why i was saying that but for 500 you can get a little better than that, but do you really want a mATX or can you use a regular atx, was trying for a better case but the next cheapest one with a handle is 70, although it is a decent case, look at this, and with is and the os and all what i currently have is at 627, am trying to shave some off so either needs that cheapy case or an atx case to work out the price, i think the apex vortex 3620 is on sale, not the nicest case, but i think it's at 35 again (what i got mine for) and it's a pretty nice and spacious case for mATX's, idk about full atx's
