hello, please help with my harddisk
my harddisk has a very big problem...
as for the background, i am using MagicPro MP-H61M-U3 motherboard which should be only released recently... running i5-2400 cpu... there are 4 slots
for sata in my motherboard, one of them connects to an oridinary DVDRW, another one connects a newly bought 500GB Harddrive used for installing windows 7, it serves as the main disk for the OS. It has no problem at all.
However, I have another two harddisks which are also very important to me. Both of them are "Seagate" products, one of them (160GB) was bought in 2005 and another one (1TB) was bought in 2008 ,When I connect the 160GB harddisk to my motherboard it has no problem at all to start the window and see the files inside. However, it is not possible for me to read the files or even boot to windows when i connect the 1TB harddisk bought in 2008 which is supposed to be newer and "younger", considering that harddisk has a lifespan...
i have tried going to the seagate official website to download firmware for this harddisk. However, it doesn't even detect the harddisk when i looked into the BIOS windows as my computer boots. On the other hand, it can't load into the window. A number of people on other furums suggested me to use a better powersupply because they thought it might be due to the lack of battery. However, i am already using Maxtron 500W powersupply and I am using on-board display card only, so I don't think not having enough power rate is a reason behind the truth... i have also tried using SATA-to-USB kits but it is completely rubbish.......... no effect at alll........ somebody even stronly discourage m to use it.
Can anyone suggset how i can re-open my hardisk more ecomically... Thanks!!
