Blackberry storm9500 problem

Hi everyone,

Is there something called data lock? Some one told me the phone might be used by 3 network already, It then can't be used by the 4th network?

I bought this phone from a local phone dealer, a small phone shop, I bought it because my service carrier have a special service deal with blackberry phones. It looks new but didn't come with a sealed box. It might be a factory reconditioned phone.

I can't connect the phone to internet service neither sms messages, but I can make phone calls and talk. someone told me in the digicel(the wireless carrier) dealer that maybe the phone is data locked because it might used by 3 network so it can't be used by 4th network. he said the voice would work. can it be so? Can some one confirm this? He said I need to get the phone wiped totally.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not aware of anything like this. However if the device is provisioned by multiple carriers, the subsequent registrations will not work. Also, if you don't have a blackberry dataplan it won't work. A regular data plan usually will not work.

Are you sure your data plan is active? You could also have your carrier check that you have the required service books and make sure your carrier has your dvice registered correctly on RIM's relay.

That is the problem, I can't activate the plan with RIM, It is blackberry data plan. My service carriers (yes I tried 2 carriers, both failed) try to but can't, hence is the question if the phone did have used 3 carriers already, can it be connected to RIM by wipe the system clean? I try to update the software already.
Thank you.

I sent you a PM. It's looks like it's going to take a bit of work to get this fixed.

Thank you, I went back to the dealer and returned the phone as it can't be connected to RIM server. I got a different one the blackberry torch 9800. It is working now, thank you again if wasn't you we are still try to fix it and waste time.

cheers.
