Ok so on my system i have win xp pro. when i try to boot it fails because it the system32/config/service file is corrupt or missing. Then when i try to run repair utility off win xp pro install disk i get the blue screen right before any options come up. The bluescreen is for a HDD failure but the HDD is ok. I have ran check disk from ubcd4win and have done both short and long hdd test with seatools. Any suggestions?

did you reprogram your system or just a corrupt OS? if you reprogram check your BIOS config in HDD maybe it is AHCI change to compatible or IDE mode. if it is Corrupt OS try unplugging your RAM or change it..let us know thanks

Sounds more like youre infected. I am guessing that you cannot get into safemode at all, is that true?

And if not that, do you have access to a desktop computer with which you could slave the problem hard drive and run some scans? If you have a slave cable that would work as well, do you have one?

Do you have anything on your hard drive which you consider irreplaceable?
