New Gaming Laptop

Hey guys, just looking for some recommendations.

I'm looking to buy a pretty decent (and cheap) gaming laptop that has the following:

  • 4GB RAM
  • 500GB+ SATA HD
  • High Level Graphics Card
  • Core i5 Processor or Higher
  • Built In Webcam & Mic
  • Minimum 3 USB Ports (1+ USB 3.0, 2+ USB 2.0)
  • Under (or at least close to) $1000.
  • 17in+ Moniter

I Don't Need:
  • 3D Graphics

Optional:
  • Blu-Ray Reader
  • Blu-Ray Writer

I spent some time looking into Alienware and Asus Laptops, and I'm extremely satisfied with the specs on the Asus G74SX, but anything similar to this would work just as well.

So I'm really interested in this Toshiba now. I realized that I can probably push 1500 on my budget, but only if I know it's what I really want. The Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7270, the one you showed me, and a similar model, the Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7273, are similar in most ways, except when it comes to the hard drive size and the optical drive. The optical drive on the later is a "Blu-ray Disc™ Rewriteable (RE) and DVD SuperMulti drive with Labelflash®". What exactly does this mean? And are there any specific glitches/problems or benefits with having a built in Blu-Ray player?

FYI: My decision is down between these 2 models, and my original Asus G74SX.

this one he said is prob worth the extra if you can go to 1500, it has a 1080p monitor, and i7, and an extra .5gb's of vram so it's at 2gb's, plus it's got the 8gb's of ram, so for 50 i'd say that's better, only reason i didn't put it in the original post was you said something about 1k so i didn't want to be so pushy on more than that.

but off of the 1500 point this looks like a beast, it's got the gtx570m, a 64gb ssd, a 640gb hdd, and some other good stuff, which btw both this and the other from this site come with a free copy of just cause 2.

If you need to stick to budget, then that Toshiba is probably your best bet. Their laptops are the most reliable I've experienced. For example, I have a laptop near me that is still running Win95 and works perfectly. It was one of the first laptops made, and it's a Toshiba.
 
I still really like the Toshibas.... but I'm still questioning what I stated in my last post, does anybody have any idea what the "Blu-ray Disc™ Rewriteable (RE) and DVD SuperMulti drive with Labelflash®" is? I'm assuming that this means that it has a Blu-Ray Drive that reads and writes, as well as a DVD Reader that reads DVD +/-, but what is the Labelflash? And are there any problems that anyone has heard about with built in blu-ray drives? Just curious.

And on the Xplorer X7-8800, what's the difference between the Hard Drive & the Data Hard Drive? Seeing as how you built it with the 64 GB SSD HD, and a 640GB Data Drive... Just curious.

for the dvd drive q, your right i think on the stuff and label flash i'm not sure on. for the x7-8800, the harddrive is the one with the os and main stuff on, the data drive is for other stuff, but in this case the ssd is so small that you can't really not have a data drive, so many programs must go on there.

So what would be the benefit to having this versus having a 750 gb SATA HD with no data drive?
