So, I have 1 Vertex3 in my new rig as my boot drive and I got another Vertex3 which was in a laptop and the laptop got dropped and the screen is screwed...so

I was wondering..should I add in the 2nd SSD and do RAID?

If so, what all do I need to do? What extra parts do I need?

The rig is in my sig...

I'm 99% sure that your mobo can do RAID 0. I think all you need is a SATA cable and a power cable.
Might need someone else to verify, but yeah.

Your board does support raids 0,1,5,10. Assuming you are wanting raid 0, you will need to reinstall windows. So you will need to backup any data before proceding. Enable raid in the bios, then go into the raid utility and setup your raid arrary, the manual will have all the instructions to do so.

Ahh, so the only option is to do a fresh install!>?

Do you figure its worth doing? I mean, I have the 2nd SSD and all but is it really worth the time/effort to reformat to setup RAID

Ok, thanks as always John, I'll read my manual and make a decision by the weekend if I'm gonna do the upgrade

Well, I changed to RAID in BIOS, installed the SSDs, hooked up cables, and them, as manual says--reboot and press ctrl+I to enter intel rapid storage technology option rom utility.

But..it does nothing, just get a message that boot mgr is missing.

What do I do? Do I reinstall win7 first?

You have to reinstall windows fresh after changing to a raid setup, said that in my earlier post. Did you backup any important data first?

Yah, I backed up, thats all good,.

What I meant was do i install windows fresh first, then go back and try to ctrl+i to setup raid?

cause ctrl-I now does nothing..

also, I heard somewhere that the 6GB ports dont support RAID...is this true?

Do I simply need to use 3GB sata ports

Look at the manual to see what ports support raid, I'm at work now on my phone so can't look. Once you setup raid in the bios, then you install windows to the array.

No problem, no need to be sorry. I just wanted to reply real quick. Glad you got it going.

Yah, and its very nice.

Much more efficient is the best way to put it...a complete reformat and install of all drivers, programs, and some new stuff took 3 hours.
