Will My PC keep up with an xbox 360 for Skryim?

I have a 2011 mac mini (don't kill me, it was given too me). I am going to be building a fast gaming computer in the next couple of months, but I do not think that I can wait until then.:D Here are the specs of the mac under windows 7 bootcamp:

Video: AMD Radeon HD 6630M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR5 memory
Processor: 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor
Memory: 4 GB

Do you all think that it can keep up, or come close to an xbox 360 version of the game? I just hate to poor any more money it to that :gun: console.

nope, the 6630m won't do any real gaming, and never heard of a dual core i7, only dual core i5's and i3's, but with that you could play it still, just not past probably 1024x768 if you want any decent settings.

If anything, cpu's become more obselite the higher resolution you use.

obviously he would need a decent gpu to play 1080, but i get better performance with my e6600 playing at 1080 than i do at 1366x768.

no, the 360 will give better looks and performance, and all of us missed the biggest problem, bf3 is only for pc, 360, and ps3, no macs

I just lost a little faith in this website; you are an idiot.

No need to be so abrupt it is easy to miss that you have dual boot to windows 7 on the go.

Your answer is yes it will run and according to the below vid, if it is true, should also run quite well.

If memory serves although BF3 is demanding it is very well programmed and uses resources available to it well, hence why the above has a good chance of being true.

Heres another vid to back it up (it says in the vid description on both the specs of the machine running it.)

I really want this game, dont know that much about it, story wise, dut I know it want it.

OK, i missed the part that you had win7 on there, but still if you look at that vid, as i was saying in my first post, although i was a little off on the res, you will still be on a very low resolution and it looks like crap, while the xbox version looks pretty dang good, and is at a much higher resolution. skyrim should be similar to bf3, meaning you'll be on a crappy resolution.

Mac Mini 2011 Skyrim

Sorry for being rude, I was just getting frustrated with some of the irrelevant responses. Thank you for finding those youtube videos with my GPU and CPU, that makes me feel a little bit better about their real world gaming performance. However, my original question was about the upcoming game Skyrim, that is to be released this coming Thursday. I think that a comparison can be made using the videos you found, between the requirments of BF3 and Skryrim:
------------------------------------------------------
Recommended Specs for Skyrim:
Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
4GB System RAM
6GB free HDD space
DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher (i.e GTX550Ti); ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
DirectX compatible sound card
Internet access for Steam activation

Minimum Specs for Skryim:
Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor
2GB System RAM
6GB free HDD Space
Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM
DirectX compatible sound card
Internet access for Steam activation

-------------------------------------------------------
Minimum requirements for Battlefield 3
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
RAM: 2GB
Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.
Graphics card memory: 512 MB
Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card
Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
RAM: 4GB
Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.
Graphics card memory: 1 GB
Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card
Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version

It would seem that BF3 is a much more GPU intensive game by looking at the fact that the recommended GPU for BF3 is a 6950, whilst the recommended GPU for Skyrim is a 4890. I believe that the 6330M is not to far off from the older 4890 desktop GPU in terms of performance. So, I think that the case can be made that my mac mini CAN run Skryim with relatively good graphics. Thanks for the help guys, and any more insight would be greatly appreciated.

Ahh sory thought it was about BF3 for some reason, but if it can run BF3 like that you should be able to play skyrim well enough until you get your new gaming computer.

Edit: If those are what skyrim needs, and it doesnt change before release, you will be fine, I honestly thought that skyrim would require more than a gtx 260 or HD4890, I thought the graphics were going to be top notch, maybe for, like, the ultra high settings you will need an even better gpu.

Further Edit: This list is good list to compare gpus, obvoiusly it is defintative as there is a multitude of different tests, but it is good for a quick reference to compare your gpu to other GPUs:

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

you should be fine for skyrim, it sounds like it will only be a DX 10 title that wont be too taxing on todays cards, even older ones should be good enough.

Either way dont get it on the XBOX imo you should just deal the "good enough" quality on your laptop because when you make your gaming computer the visuals will look better than the xbox version on your laptop and when you crank it up to full on your new gaming comp it will look way better.

However if you want to be sure just wait a few days before you buy it (that is after the release date) and you will find websites like www.techspot.com will do performance reviews on multiple gpus and you can looks for some vids on youtube, from that you will get a good idea of performance.

Ya, I was pretty surprised as well. But, the game was made with the console in mind, and the xbox 360 is beginning to lag behind. BF3 for instance, requires you to install some of the game onto the hard drive of the xbox in order to play at a a higher graphical setting. I guess that I will just nut up and shut up and just buy the game on steam Thursday!
