ubuntu 11.10 on ssd's in raid 0?

Hey,



I am currently undergoing my first build and I am having trouble installing the latest 11.10 version onto a pair of 120g ssd's in a raid 0?



This is where I am getting the download, I am using a usb to transfer the files from my laptop to the desktop.

I can get it to run fine wihtout raid 0, but when I setup raid 0 I can boot into the os, but when I go to install it it just freaks out.



I have only tried it once, so I will be tikering with it more, but I was just hoping someone could help me out. kinda new to this stuff :/

Another question, is the OS I presented in the link the FULL version of ubuntu? somewhere I was reading something that it was only a quick start or something and after 18 onths or so I would have to pay to keep the OS.

I have been unable to find anything on the ubuntu homesite, I was under the impression that the entire thing was free.

It is free. You will never have to pay for Ubuntu.

RAID 0 is tough with Ubuntu. I can't remember exactly why but I remember that something with the boot partition does not work with RAID 0, but the other partitions do. So what you have to do is install RAID 1 to the SSDs as the boot partition and you can have the rest in a RAID 0 stripe.

Ubuntu is free, what it is you have two type's. You have the six month release witch is only supported for 18 months in security and bug updates. Then you have the LTS release which stands for Long Term Support which is supported for three years until the new LTS is released. 10.04 is the current LTS and the next LTS will be released in April.

If you did not know the number stand for 11 is the year and 10 is the month so you get 11.10 with is 2011.October
