Ram:: 2 x CORSAIR 12GB DDR3 VENGEANCE PC3-16000 2000MHZ CL10 (3X4GB)

Graphic Card:: 2 or 3 x EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD
OS:: Win 7 Ultimate
SSD:: OCZ Agility 3 SSD 120GB
HDD:: Western Digital 2000 GB harddisk
Case:: Thermaltake Level 10 GT LCS - bigtower

This is about 4k$ so far. Can anyone tell me if this is even duable?
please point out Con's, and possible better hardware for less bank.
 
Like Johnny said, go for 2 580s. You won't need anything more than that.

Go for 8GB. No games need more than 8GB. If you're doing major multitasking like Auto CAD or photoshop, then you might want to consider 16GB, but if not, get 8GB. If you need more, you can always upgrade easily. And in your build, you wanted to get 2 sets of 12GB? Nothing will use 24GB. Waste of money.

Do you use any of these?

Location-aware printing
Domain join and group policy controls
Remote desktop host
Advanced backup (network & group policy)
Encrypting file system
Bitlocker and Bitlocker to-go
Applocker
DirectAccess
BranchCache
MUI language packs

Those are the features that are offered in Win7 Ultimate compared to Win7 Home. If you don't use any of these, then get Win7 Home 64-bit. It's a waste if you're not using these features.

1200w is a little overkill, even for 3 cards. I would stick with 2 580s and get an 850w-1000w PSU. The brand you chose is excellent though.

I would get an aftermarket cooler, possible a watercooler like a Corsair H80 or something similar. Or CM Hyper 212+ for air cooling.

Well, i'm gonna do this build because i want to use it for f.x autoCad. Was planning on having it as a liquid cooled PC. It may be possible that i'm gonna try freon cooling for the processor:) Well if I can get 16gig memory, why not go for 24gigs':) Win7Ultimate is probably not gonna happen, gonna be Win7HP:p

Well I was going for the Assassin mobo because of the great intigrated sound options:) I'm gonna consider the ASUS Maximus 4 instead.
And just realised the case is to small. Need to go bigger with that1 also.
 
Because those programs won't use over 12GB, even. And most 1155 boards have 2 dual-channel memory, 4 slots total. Triple channel RAM is more of a 1366 board thing. So the most you can have on one 4-slot board is 16GB.* You won't see a performance difference going from 16GB to 24GB.

*Unless you want to go 32GB, but all sets of those on newegg are $400, and not worth the price at all.

And you cannot use the Assassin motherboard with that CPU. You need to change it to a different one or else it won't work.
 
2 GTX 580 are a bit steap in price... would 2, or 3way sli with the 570 not be sufficient, for a slightly above average gamer:P I meen 1 580, is in the same ballpark pricevise, as 2 570..

the 570 is 350 to 400 and the 580 is 500, so 2 570's is a bit more than a single 580, at lest on newegg that is. and actually for what you're doing you might actually benefit from something like this.

these have 2 more cores and 4 more threads (6/12 v 4/8). for what you're doing and the price you're going for this might be better for you. also don't even ask about the 3960X, it's a complete waste of money with virtually no benefit over this cpu.

What would be the aprox overclock on a system like this, if i had some really good aftermarked liquid cooling? does any1 have a 'in the ballpark anwser''??
 
3way sli EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD is supposed to be great.. but there any signifiant difference between 2 x EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD, and 3 x EVGA GeForce GTX 570 HD??
 
depends on what you're doing, if 3 monitors then 3 570's will prob be a good bit better, but otherwise not so much. although 3 would be better for 2 monitors so you could def max any game for a while no problem.
 
The resolution of your monitor will determine what GPU setup you should go for. A single 580 would be fine for anything up to 1920 x 1200. Above this res and you would want to go for a couple of them.

It's better to go for as few cards as possible, as SLI performance is very dependant on driver support. When you add more than 2 cards, you start to see a drop off in performance increase.
