Hi I am about to build my first computer and thought it would be a good idea to get involved on one of these forums. Reading through a lot of different posts I have put everything I want in a shopping cart at microcenter but before I buy it I want to make sure everything will work once I bring it home.

Here is the Rig

i7 2600k

I basically want to make sure everything is compatible, will work, is a good rig, and that I am not forgetting anything I need before I submit such a large purchase. Thank You guys!!

1. 950 watt psu is way overkill unless you plan on sli or crossfire.
2. You will want a regular hard drive for data storage

Have you checked to see what kind of deals you can get on newegg?

Sounds pretty cool. I'm afraid I can't share much advice (I'm new here too, and came for the same reason as you), but I did want to stop in to say "welcome!" :) Let us know how this goes as you progress.

I would get a GTX 570 over a 480. Less power and heat and about the same performance.

EDIT: I don't think you really need 5 fans in that system. But if you want them, it's not going to hurt anything.

Not a necessity but I would put an after market cooler on the i7. I'm guessing that since you bought the k version you are looking into overclocking. If so, you will want a better cooler.

Thanks for all the input guys...sorry for the late response. I actually went to microcenter and picked up everything using the advice I read from here. I just built it and got it to post (super excited it actually worked). Minor problem with the ram I put in it not reading properly but got that squared away. Sitting at the BIOS now. Going to insert the OS disc and see what happens. :D Im super surprised it worked. When I pulled out the PSU and noticed all the cables involved I was a little nervous lol.
