£300 tops. Reasonable size monitor - 17" if 4:3 ratio, or same height if widescreen. If XP, prefer 2G mem, don't need much HDD - 250G would be ample.whats your budget?
Pretty old games really. Rome total war is the most intensive - remember that the games have previously been played on 512Ram with a 256M graphics card. The DVD writer is fine, all else pretty obsolete IMO.What games and such are you going to be playing .... Also, do you have any parts that you can reuse...
Possibly the best advice ever. Not all members are as knowlegeable as others. Look for at least 1 other member in agreement before using their advice.
Thank you. I think I'd rather a conventional desktop with a DVD drive.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883220066
I found this one on newegg for 219 USD but i am not sure what that would translate into in UK currency.... you could easily install XP on this.
Wow, thank you for such a comprehensive shopping list! Much appreciated.http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-398-IN&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=2037 (should be plenty for those games.)

you will still need a copy of XP to put on it.
Ah, interesting. I wasn't aware of that. Maybe I need to look into that a bit more.[-0MEGA-];1708022 said:Most games can be played on Windows 7, I pay a few games from the 1990's such as Age of Empires that run fine on Windows 7 64-bit.
