Where are you getting the parts? They just seem kinda high. The Zambezi 8120 in the US is going for 210 bucks. Drop the Cooler Master GX power supply. Go with a XFX/Corsair/PC Power&Cooling/Antec/Seasonic/Silverstone. Dont go with a Palit video card. Stay with Gigabyte/MSI/EVGA/Asus or even Zotac. Harddrives, if you want a Western Digital, go with a Black model, the green drive is slow for a main drive. You dont have a motherboard listed.

where are you shopping at? those prices are high. and also bulldozer isn't worth it, nothing will benefit from anything over 4 cores really, fsx might. and bulldozer is also slower than an equally clocked phenom II x4. i'm pretty sure that it doesn't support quad channel ram ither so 2x4gb's is better since it leaves it open to more ram later and costs less

cooler master psus aren't very good, this is much better, and unless you plkan on getting a second then 750 is overkill, and if you do 750 is fine but 800 might be a little smarter

and lastly you really don't want a green hdd, that normally means 5400rpm which means slow boots, this is much better, and if you can afford it then i'd recomend looking at an ssd for the operating system which you will also need one of.

as far as the q about the mobo, here ya go depends on budget though

Missed the bottom there. lol How much you want to spend on a motherboard? Do you need a SLI board if you might run SLI in the future?

Edit.

Jonny, you need to slow down with links till you get more info, and take more time looking around and thinking. This will be someones build, its not a link race.

Might need to fine another site for a harddrive, they are kinda low on inventory. Harddrive prices have really gone up since the flooding in Thailand.

I said that in my post, and if it's a 1500 buck build then I'd say go for the i5 2500k. It is the best gaming CPU out at the moment, nothing is better not even the 2600k which for 100 gets you 4 threads that almost no games use, and maybe one game actually benefits from.

Why is no one steering him away from an FX Eight-Core processor? He would be better off going with a Phenom II 970 Quad-Core.

AMD Phenom II 970 Deneb (3.5 gigahertz) 125 Watt Quad-Core Processor - $140
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103894

He is in Australia.

If he wants a AMD system. Whats your beef with the FX. I was upset with them at the start. True they are alittle slower clock for clock then the Phenom II, but they are a beast at overclocking. I would take a FX-6100/8120, overclocked between 4.5/5.0ghz over a Phenom II anyday. But he would need a good aftermarket cooler, but you would need one for the Phenom II if your overclocking.

Looks pretty good, but the Antec 300 has no cable management at all. But since there is no side window, guess it doesnt matter other then air flow in the case.

But also on the anti fx campaign, :p, doesn't thus "gaming" chip have bakes in several games? I think it was said in xxmorpheus's sr3 BSOD thread. And other than sr3 it appeared common for BSOD's in crysis warhead and something else too.

I have install 4 of them so far and no problems, plus I have not heard of a problem anywhere else. I think xxmorpheus just has problems period.

Only reason I mentioned him is cuz he said he looked it up and saw many others with similar issues, then again you also say you've never had sli or crossfire issues and there are many who have including a few people on here I remember mentioning some issues, maybe you're just very lucky.

Well since he said that, show me a bunch of links that Zambezi is crashing in games as he claims. I didnt say I have (never) had issues with C/F or SLI. I more or less said that problems are way over blown and people just run with it and say dont run C/F or SLI or you will have problems. Plus (most) but not all problems are fixed with a driver update pretty quick.

For the sake of the OP and rest of us how about we drop the debate going on above.

True, though on the flip side very few people do decent cable work even when they have a good case for it. However the case is totally his choice, I just threw a good budget case in the mix to stay sub $1500.

However if he was willing some good results can be had with the 300:

Just google saints row the third BSOD bulldozer and there are a good number of posts. Although I think the first summary did point out that a bios update on his board fixed it, would read more but iPod is so slow. But most errors seemed to be something about a clock interrupt not being received by the - core in the allocated amount of time.
