My build, is it good to go!?

sorry my posts sound bad haha I am fairly new to this...I wish to follow a setup similar to the OP but instead of buying a monitor would I be able to hook this setup onto a small HDTV with an HDMI cord and use that as my monitor?
 
so as long as there is an HDMI port on the TV I can do this right? (: What do you mean by "the card has an HDMI port"? What part is the card?

also is a CPU cooler necessary?

I meant the video card has a HDMI port, if the TV has a HDMI port you have it covered. If your not overclocking the stock cooler that comes with it will be fine. If your going to overclock more then a few 100mhz. a good aftermarket cooler would be necessary.

Well, I'm running about 470$ total (W/O HDD and shipping), and this build is mainly going to be for Battlefield 3 (of course I'm going to play other games), I guess the 6870 can run it just fine with higher settings, and I'm assuming that if it can run BF3, it should be able to run those, but then again, those are more sandbox type games. You should find an experts opinion though.
 
just wondering why youre choosing to get an antlon II x4 instead of a Phenom II x4 if youre using this rig for gaming? its a $20 price difference
