Phenom II X8

550 at stock will not go past 45-50c on the stock cooler. You did something wrong, or have POOR case air circulation.

There is nothing wrong with any stock cooler at stock speeds.

was in a Coolermaster 912. It was assembled by our local tech, I know he knows what hes doing. It was hitting 75-80 on stock cooler. The Artic cooling brought it back down to the 40's.
 
Literally, impossible. It had to have no thermal paste to hit that high at stock clocks. I could seriously and literally install a cooler on a 550 with NO thermal paste and thats about how high it would get at stock. It was installed wrong, don't care what you say or think.
 
could it have possibly been a bad chip or something?
Like I said, I didn't build it, but a tech did, so I assume he put the TP on it. If he didn't then there should have been stock paste on the cooler anyway.
 
Not if it runs 40's with the arctic freezer...it would have been running 60's with that if it hit 80's with the stocker.
 
true. I don't know what was up with it. I probably could have discovered what was up if i have ventured inside. But I didn't. The same tech that assembled it put the other cooler in it. It could have been a simple mistake of not putting TP on the stock cooler. I assumed it was just a junk cooler and ditched it.
 
The stock all aluminum coolers are crappy, but they are adequate for stock clocks. Plus, that same cooler came with 95w quad cores and it was even sufficient for them. And the 550 dual core runs much cooler than the quads.
 
This place sucks anymore. Just started a thread about AMD coming out with a stripped down Zambezi as a Phenom II X8. Look what happens. I dont even post much anymore. Try to post in a build thread, you have to contend with a bunch of kids that havent done anything, but knows everything and just makes statements out of the ass or fans boys.

This thread didnt have anything to do with if Zambezi sucked. If god had built Intel processors or which one is faster clock for clock. All AMD suck because of design, then its because of the stock heatsink, then I didnt even put them together, then it could be the compound. AMD had Intel beat clock for clock for 6 years with less of a budget then Intel spends on advertising. But now AMD sucks because they cant come back in the same amount of time. The stupidity just goes on and on. Talk about B/S. This place has turned into a peach fuzz pissing contest.

so lets get back to the x8's then...
they have 8 cores and are part of the PhenomII family...

now that sums things up i believe, i cant think of anything else to add, feel free to add mroe useless junk then to my nice conclusion of the PhenomII X8 series

Haven't done anything? I pwn pretty much every benchmark contest on this forum with MULTIPLE upon multiple different builds AMD and intel.

And I'm not saying that to gloat or look down on anyone, I'm stating this to show my experience in owning, gaming/daily driving, and benchmarking gobs of hardware. My experience in hardware makes me more able to give first hand knowledgeable advice.
 
pretty sure hge was referring to me, even though i wasn't even a part of this thread, and i have stripped and reassembled 2 computers and replaced a power supply in a third, so i have done some stuff.

im 17 and i know a bit of this and that. but i am eager to learn more and more.
and by saying you've been doing this for a long time, means nothing. as this thread started off with an x8 and ended up with you saying we are all kids and you know best. or am i just reading wrong and seeing words that arent on my screen?

In this case, yes. It has a lot of meaning.
Don't see where anyone said all. Bunch doesn't mean all. Check your dictionary. If your 15-17 yrs old, then yes, your a young kid. A kid can know a lot, but there's nothing like experience.

@Ras3rd, intel makes more in a month than AMD does in a year bro, and they don't even sell graphics cards.

no there is nothing like expierence, but books can have more meaning than expierence. as a 17 year old, i am a kid but also what ive learnt from biology class which is weird as i havent had biology for 2 years and still remember this is that from 16 to the day before your 21st birthday you are still an adolescent, so im not actually a kid i am a young adult. just pointing that out.

but now what is there to say about the phenomII x8?

lol if you did read on, which i think you did seeing your edit, i didnt mean it like that :P but yeah a fail is a fail no matter what.
