Crosshair Formula II questions

so i may or may not be buying an old Asus Crosshair Formula II.

now i intend to use this as a temporary solution for my desktop, as it sounds and is ancient. i know it has DDR2, but i want to know if anyone has expierence with this motherboard.

its nothing major, so im not going to play games or anything as the CPU, Athlon64 LE-1600, wont take it anyway.

but i just need it for College projects to store not yet needed files on, as the Hard Drive on my laptop is frankly getting rather full lol. i have thought of getting an external HDD but meh cba and i want a desktop again.

If you can get it cheap, I guess it would be ok. I havent had nothing but problems with Crosshair boards. Dont know how available they would be in the Netherlands, but Biostar and Asrock still have make some lowend AM2/+ boards that would be fine for something like that.

well biostar and ASrock dont supply any AM2/+ motherboards anymore to the netherlands, only if i order them through a dutch site who then buy it from the manufacturer specially for me, but the costs are extortionate then. running upto about €100 and then shipping ontop of that

You might can build new small PC for cheap from newegg.com, but otherwise the motherboard you're talk about is fine and should be good.

The hardware list that i can't remember but i remember that i can build it for 200 dollar. And it is AMD chipset AM3 or +

the only problem with new egg are the shipping costs to the netherlands. import taxing etc.

really? I don't know you live in netherlands. Oh well. I was just advice. Anyways motherboard, you're talk about, should be good for you.

PS. It is important to write country where you live in while you look for hardware part.

yes i know what it is called, it was just a quick thread to ask a question. so your reply was a useless BUMP.

If you can get it cheap, I dont se any problem using the Asus. Unless there are some small computer shops there that you might find another used board cheap.

well i found a used one, and im paying for it tomorrow. all i dont get with it is the LCD poster, but im not disappointed. in total €47 shipped. so i think maybe a total of 35$

Well if I like them or not, cant go wrong for 35 bucks. Good deal.

yeah, just need to get my old case ready for it, take the old sempron out and fit in a few fans etc. but hopefully it arrives on friday, at least then i have the whole afternoon to play with it :)

Yeah, pretty sure the Nvidia 780a chipset has it. Cant remember what Nvidia called it.

if im right its called NCC, did a bit of research but didnt see if the crosshair II has it though, so ill just take pot luck when i get a new CPU, if not then ill just OC the hell out of it :)
