A couple of problems.

Your CPU is overpowered while your video card is underpowered. I would get a quad core instead and get a better graphics card. No game will use that many cores, and getting a better graphics card will get you better framerates. Either a 960T or basically any Phenom X4.

Once again, overpowered with the RAM. Very few programs will use that much. It'd be better to get 8GB and get faster RAM, like 1600mhz.

I'd use the money saved from getting less RAM and a "lesser" CPU (Not really lesser, just more efficient use of it instead of having 2 cores doing nothing) to get a better video card, like a 560ti or 6950.

Now, this is an absolute must. Your power supply is of terrible quality and you need to change that right away. Look for corsair, antec, silverstone, seasonic, pc power and cooling, or xfx. Even a coolermaster or thermaltake would be better. I would get at least a 550w.

Did he say anywhere that he would be using it for gaming?

good point, but either way, if you can, a better motherboard is always a good idea. and is 2.5tb's necessary, green drives are considerably slower than normal 7200rpm ones, a 7200rpm will load the operating system and everything on it much faster. and a nicer case is always good.
