Want to Build a Desktop for Video Editting and Some Gaming

Hi, I actually made a topic about a week ago with a pre-built system someone else made for me awhile back, but decided to see if you guys could possibly make a system for me...

Anyway, I'd like to spend no more than $1400 - $1500(Canadian), but the cheaper the better. I want to be able to do HD video editing and rendering with ease. I'd also like to be able to play and record games like Skyrim, Minecraft, etc. without too much hassle. The games wouldn't necessarily have to be at max settings though.

Being able to have(for example) Msn, Skype, some low intensity game, and Google Chrome open all at the same time without too much lag would be nice too...

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to the technical parts of a computer, so yea.

I would go for something like this :

CPU : i7-2600k @ 3.4GHz

CPU Cooler : Corsair CAFA70 61.0 CFM CPU

Motherboard : ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Ram : G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600

HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM

Graphics card : Radeon 6950 in 2-way crossfire

Case : Cooler Master HAF X

PSU : Corsair 850W ATX12V / EPS12V


This will max out any game you want no matter what and it's also good for video editing.

If you look at the GPU, I told you to get two of the 6950's. Instead of getting them, you could wait until January the 9th for the Radeon 7970 to come out and get one of those.
The Radeon 7970 would be more powerful than any card in 2-way crossfire so you should really consider going for that.

if your not familiar with building, i suggest taking a look at NCIX.com. They will build you a great system for very little and do a excellent job doing it, i would suggest a i7 2600k, 16 gigs of ram and a gtx560 ti as a graphics card, a 570 if you can afford it, the extra threads will help with editing, and the ram is so cheap right now, just do it, no reason not to.

He should just build it himself. If you've ever built a computer yourself then you'll know that it's extremely easy.

The first time I built a PC, I hardly needed any help. From time to time I had to look at the motherboard manual to see where some of the power cables connected to, but that was all.

It's like lego, you just connect the pieces together.

*shrug* sure he could, but for the money, NCIX does an excellent job, im not in canada, but if i didnt want to bother with a build, even being in the states, id gladly have them assemble one and ship it to me

Have you checked out Memory Express? If you live in one of the cities they are located in go and check them out and they will help you out. That store is like my second home lol.
