Transfering OS to another Internal HD?

Hello CF, its been awhile. I have got a SSD 60GB for Christmas and I am wondering if I can somehow transfer my OS onto it? Is it even possible or is there a way to do so? Many thanks!

You could but then you lose performance of your SSD. Best performance comes from a fresh install.

Bullocks. I was afraid of that. If I used my key on the SSD, it will say the key is in use. Will it read the CD key on the computer, or do I still have to wipe my HD?

i would personally leave the HD for storing files & applications and have the OS on the SSD... and yes a fresh install would be best. you can use the same key on the same computer as many times as you would like.

You can use the same key no matter if its the retail or OEM version as its installed on the same computer.

I am gonna make video series tutorial on how to transfer OS from one HDD to another wether it is HDD or SSD.I just did not have time to make it earlier.

I already did the wipe, but thanks alot! I will be using this for later.

Now I have whipped the OS and reinstalled it to my SSD, but now lies a major problem (Not THAT major, but regardless). During start up, it stops me at asking me to choose one of the two OS. They're both Windows 7. I dont have any other OS on the Hard Drives but the SSD. Anyone might know of this issue?

Obviously the boot files from your previous OS didn't get deleted. I can't remember if 7 is the same as XP but try going into the msconfig utility, click on the boot.ini tab, click on check all boot paths and it should detect a bad entry.

To get into the msconfig utility click on start, and in the search box type msconfig hit enter.
