Laptop Upgrade

Hey, I need a little help here.

Okay, here's the situation, I have a 250GB Hard Drive with XP Tablet edition in my laptop. I will also be buying a 60GB SSD to put in a drive bay adapter and put Windows 7 on that making that the main boot drive.

Here's the problem, I also want to upgrade from my 2Ghz Core Duo Processor to a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor, how would this affect the files on the 250GB HDD? I know I would have to reinstall Windows but would the files be completely fine? Are there any other concerns I should have?

I already know what processor I need and that it is upgradeable.

you can upgrade your processor without having to touch the HDD and even re-install windows, that won't be necessary. Be sure to re-apply a fresh layer of thermal compound during the upgrade ;)

Are you sure? I've always heard that you had to reinstall windows because it's set up for that specific processor.

I'm pretty positive you won't need to re-install windows. As long as the new chip is supported by your mobo, of course, The most you would need to do is flash your BIOS for upgraded CPU support (if it's not already up to date)
