Hey
Im planning to build a new PC, its the first time I collect all the parts and build it on my own, so could use a bit of advise. Im gonna use the PC for playing games, nothing hardcore, I play WoW, GTA IV, and soon Diablo3, so not the most demanding games. I would like them to run with high settings on 1920.1080 resolution.
Heres some parts ive been looking at:
Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CX600 V2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028&Tpk=Corsair Builder Series CX600 V2

Case: CM elite 430 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119227&Tpk=Cooler Master Elite 430

Motherboard: ASRock 870 Extreme3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157272

Processor: Phenom II x4 955 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103808

Graphics: Radeon HD 6850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150573

Ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

Harddrive: WD caviar blue http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769

DVD Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151233&Tpk=Samsung SH-222AB

All together around $650
Im unsure about how good the Processor is, and it also seem to be out of stock many places, so if anyone knows a Good Alternative around the same price that would be good. Can be an Intel or AMD doesnt matter.
Will this do ok in Gaming or even work together?

Thank You in advance :)

I have a Phenom II x4 955, and while it is a solid CPU with which I've had no problems, I think in hindsight that the i5 might be a slightly better choice, as long as you can get a decent motherboard within your budget...

id go for a Phenom II 960T, as its a Quadcore but with the motherboard youve chosen, it can be unlocked to a Hexacore, so 6 cores.

Maybe.

You need a bigger power supply for the 6850. Check out the sticky for recommndations.

ok thank you

The Phenom x4 960T looks good aswell, not much of an expert when it comes to unlocking cores or overclocking tho.

Ive looked at the i5 aswell seems a little bit more expensive, which of the i5 models should I compare to this Phenom processor when it comes to performance?

How about this power supply http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139020 wouldnt that be enough for the HD 6850 ?

Thank you

Stick with AMD. If you go with intel, you'll be out of your budget and have to get a worse GPU, most likely. And you do need to buy a copy of win 7 so there's another $100 right there.

And the power supply you chose earlier, the cx600, is plenty for a 6850. AMD recommends a minimum 500w and the 6850 uses about 12 amps on the 12v rail, and yours has 40. Its enough.

Thank you very much for you help :)

A Friend of mine has this motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131728

Just need to clear up the difference between Micro ATX and ATX. Does all the same parts fit into the Micro ATX aswell, its just the motherboard thats smaller? Does it make any difference in performance or putting together all the parts?

Thank You for quick answer :) on the edge of my chair to order these parts :)

(The difference from the motherboard in first post http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157272 )

Regular ATX has more features and better upgradability. I would go with that Asrock over that ASUS anyday. But yeah, micro ATX will fit in a regular ATX case, but not vice versa.

Great Thank you very much :) I will stick with the Asrock then.

id get the 970 suggested earlier just because it just is simply a better board...dont skimp on a motherboard, if you do, you may regret it :/
