What are al of the CPU sockets?

Oh wow, now i feel stupid, i should've just googled it :/

But i'm upgrading mine, and i jsut wanna see what i could put in it, and see if the mobo will still support it
 
What motherboard do you have right now? Not all sockets on every board support everything.

The MSI 0A90

My build is basically the HP dx2300 from a few years back, the only change i've made so far is went from 512mb of RAM to 2gb, everything else is the same

those are the only things worth upgrading to, and the problem is their all overpriced as crap for the performance compared to newer cpus
 
it isn't listed and no c2quads are, so most likely the board doesn't support more than 2 cores. you can try to put it n and see if it works if he'll let you, but i wouldn't buy it, also you'll want to check for any bios updates for the board, those might make it support it.

Personally, I'd just go with the e6600, its a great cpu, and will be quite a bit cheaper than changing everything out...
75 bucks vs minimum of 150 bucks, for little increase.

yeah for now they are still pretty good performers, might be better to get it then upgrade everything or just build an entire new system in 2 or so years.

yeah that's what i'm planning on doing, i just wanna get a new cpu so everytime i open something it doesn't clock at 100% for a few seconds lol
