Best Android Tablet

I'm in the market for a good Android tablet. The iPad2 is nice, but they're too expensive. I'm looking for one with at least Android 2.1, can be upgraded to newer versions of Android, and has a webcam. Any suggestions?

The Xoom is probably the "best", but is the most expensive. The Galaxy Tab @ $199 is nice for the price though.

Thanks guys. I remember seeing Archos a year or two ago and it looked promising. I'll look at the other ones as well, but I'm not looking for 3G as that is just too expensive.

I would say the Asus transformer is the best for the price and from what I read online Asus is pretty good at releasing updates to there Android devices.

Yeah I ended up getting a Transformer. But in case you didn't notice, a spammer bumped my year old thread.

Did not notice, I do have to say though the new ASUS Transformer Prime with the Nvidia quad core cpu is pretty nice.

If funds permitted I would have gotten one. But the nVidia Tegra 2 is perfectly fine for me :)

I've just recently bought (and reviewed) the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It's a great piece of kit. I was lucky enough to get a hold of the 10.1 inch.

Even if I had a straight choice between the iPad 2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1, I'd go for the Samsung. Its got Android 3.2 on there as well, easy as anything to use, got a great camera. Perfect for you :)

Only little bit of criticism is the computer interface software,Samsung Kies, but it's miles better than trying to suffer through iTunes to get anything done.

Hope this helps!

As long as we're necro-posting (thanks spammer! ) and anyone happens across this thread looking for Android tablet recommendations, I like my Acer Iconia A500. The A501 is out with Android 4.0 (ICS) and the A500 is supposedly getting the ICS upgrade in April.

I really like the Samsung Note, it's a phone and tablet combined. It really is the best of both worlds!

there's a new transformer out, the Infinity, here's the cpu infor:

3G/4G LTE - 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 (2 x Krait)

WiFi - 1.6GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 T33 (4 x Cortex A9)

The prime ran off the 1.3ghz tegra 3, so that's an improvement, also, it has the same 10.1' screen, but it's @ 1920x1200, vs the prime's 1280x800, they're right behind the ipad 3's retina display (2048x1440)

I've heard good things about the galaxy tab
I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1. If you want something that's as thin as the iPad 2 (actually thinner) but runs android, the Galaxy is the one to go with. I personally don't really like anything without a keyboard, though, and I find it difficult to type on. If you're a keyboard person like me, you might prefer one of the Asus transformers.

The note looks so cool. :) Definitely one beast phablet thing.

Def like the transformer. Got one and it works really good and has some good features for the price.

I got friends with IPads and a Xoom and I like the ASUS much better.
