Hi,

I'm new here and was looking for a bit of help, i have a decent-ish knowledge of computers.

Right, my friend has given me a desktop computer which does not have wireless i have connected a wireless adapter which the pc does not detect at all so i'm guessing its broken..

so i have got my old wireless router (belkin F5D7234-4 V3 ) which i wanted to connect to the another router, i live in a house share and the router i want to connect to via my router via my pc is locked away in the celler so i have no access to it physically, obviously i know the password and can connect to it using my laptop.

Anyway... i just wanted to know if it was possible for me to connect MY router to the one that is in the celler ? if so how ?

Thanks in advance and i will be on here for the rest of the day if i need to give more info.

Oh btw on MY router control panel there is no WDS option for "bridging" if that makes sense

Kyle.

In regards to the wireless adapter i have checked my computer > manage and there is no yellow (!) thats why i guessing the pc is not detecting it at all.

Without knowing the settings on the other router I doubt it. You would have to load ddwrt on your router in order to use it as bridge. However, you can always take a cable from the router and plug it into one of the lan ports on your router to extend the wireless but if there are no cables from the other router, then you are out of luck.

Damn i thought as much i guess a usb wireless adapter is in order then,
I thought i might have been as simple as downloading a program that could turn my router into a wireless adapter, surely there's one out there ?

DDWRT as I said, but its not compatible with all routers. Plus again, you would have to know settings of the other router.
