Can anyone Help me,I want to know if your playing on a gaming site with other players like say poker and one of the players have a virus,can you get there virus on your computer by being on that site with them? Someone asked me this question and I told them I would try and find out. Thanks In Advance

No, unless that player would send the other player a link and they would open it. Just playing with someone online will not get you a virus, unless you open something they send you.

It can, depending on the game.
If the game uses peer to peer instead of a server structure, and if the game is poorly coded to protect against hackers/viruses, and the game has several hundred thousand players (some of which are hackers) then yes, its totally possible. Call of Duty MW2 is known to actually have this problem. Admittedly the 'viruses' it usually helps spread are only modifications of the game's exe and no more malign than that. But give a hacker enough time, resources, and reason to make a virus do more, and you've got a problem.
Admittedly, that's a stretch, and you most likely will not get a virus from other players while playing a browser based game. But you could just as easily get a virus from the game itself or maybe the website it is hosted on.
My point being: use Avast antivirus, or AVG antivirus and you'll be fine.

Hmmm... would not recommend AVG whether it be a paid-for product or free, but I'd recommend the free Malwarebytes. Also, I wouldn't run Malwarebytes' Pro on the same PC as an AVG product or any other anti-virus product, but I'd run the free one with Avast Free or Microsoft Security Essentials.I reccomend AVG internet security 2012 and malwarebytes prowork great together trust me i have used these for years not any problems yet!
Back on topic, think of it like an email. You can't get a virus from an email unless the sender attaches a virus and you open it - it's a bit like that. Generally, online gaming is pretty safe regarding malware and infections.
