hi, i have a Ati Radeon HD 4200.

i dont have much money so i only want a small upgrade....

what grahpic card should i get thats a step or 2 above the Ati HD 4200?

if i get just a small upgrade to the type of video card i have, will i need a new power suply also?

lets assume i have like 50 - 75 american dollars...... what kind of grahpics card can i buy thats a step or 2 better then my HD 4200?

i have a fairly strong computer.... qaud core, 2.8 GHz , 8 gigs of ram, plenty of memory, windows 7 64 bit with phenom 2 procceser.

my memory card is the weak link in the chain from what i can tell.

im having a very hard time playing battlefield 3 on my current card....... and i dont think ill be able to play mass effect 3, or dead island with out a new card.

i dont need anything too much better.... just a step or 2 up from my current card..... something that will allow me to play dead island and battlefiled 3, and mass effiect 3 on modest settings.

any help would be appreaciated.

HD6450 or GT210 would be as low as you could go and that would be a decent sized jump in performance because of the dedicated memory, Higher memory BUS, and higher core count with higher clock rates.

thanks for the idea, ill try to read up on them.... i dont sopposed you have any idea when those were made and just much proformance i could get out if them compard to my HD 4200?

they are new cards, but the 210 is several generations old.

you will see a slight performance gain. Certainly not enough for BF3 or such games, but good enough for older games @800*600

also, i looked up my computer and it should have a 250 watt power suply... is that enough to run the HD6450 or the GT210?

i heard low end ati cards were ussualy better then the low end nivdia's , so i would proably buy the GF6450, i wonder if i can get it at best by, there not many computer places around me

no. To install a graphics card you will need to replace your PSU. The 250 watt you have only puts out about 175 or so watts at a max. It is really not enough to power your system as is. 450 watts and up would be what you need.

i dont know how much it would be i dollars but a gts450 in the uk retails for around £80 which would be a super colossal performance increase for you
