HDD Problem

Hi guys. I'm new here and I was wondering if anybody could help me. One day my computer would not boot and I heard a strange noise. It said bad master drive or something to that effect, then went to the screen i show you in the video. So i pulled it off the rack, set it on some books and plugged it in. That's the noise it makes. The drive is only about two years old, model WD Caviar Blue WD5000AAKS. Any ideas are appreciated!

Sounds like it's having an issue trying to spin up. It's a mechanical failure, so there isn't anything you can do besides send it in to WD for a replacement.

Definately a bad drive, I doubt the freezer trick will help any. Where did you get the drive from? There should be a warranty date stamped on the drive.

Sending this message from it now :)

I froze it then smacked it a few times and turned it sideways :P

Not sure how long it will last though.

Back up your data while it's still working.
If you don't you will not get any sympathy from anyone here when it quits for good.

^This.

Doing what you had to do to get it working again means the drive is definitely on its way out.

Yep, already got what little is on there

Theres only like 30 gigs used on it O_o
And that's mostly programs, etc
