I live downstairs in my house but the modem is upstairs and i cant move it and charter says the way theyre internet is set up that i cant use 2 modems in the house so at the moment im using powerlines and while im using them my connection is half of what it is when im connecting wired is theyre anything i can use beside powerlines?

Get a router or second router depending on what you have and hook the 2 together if its possible.

I can't tell you anything for sure, and I don't even know if this will help, but with Charter, you can get on a monthly plan that will cover wiring of your house. We've had some problems and Charter came in an did about an hour's worth of work. It's worth checking into. And, by the way, you can cancel at any time, even after they've come out - the Charter reps will even tell you that.

Well there's nothing you can do really. JohnB provided a great alternative that would work great if you can get it to work. Are you able to run down an ethernet cable to the downstairs?
