Ok so I want to get a new rig as you know, and the 2 questions i first had were on intel builds. Now I've got an AMD build specs list. Reason, money. I know for a fact I wont have the cash for an intel build unless I work 40 hours a week,

Anyway here are the specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Quadcore @ 3.4GHZ
GeIL 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit
ASRock 990FX Extreme3
Corsair Carbide 300R
ASUS EAH6850 DC 1GB
Corsair CSSD-F120GB3A 120GB SSD (started with this first: Patriot PP120G25SSDR 120GB SSD.)
Nexus RX-7000 700W PSU

The psu is going to be re-used from my old build so thats why im getting an SSD with it instead of a psu.

grand total: € 545,49

Then after a month or 2 ill get a second 6850 and go crossfireX

Opinions?

Can you get a Crucial M4 SSD, OCZ Vertex 4 or a Corsair Force 3? Can you get Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz RAM or G.Skill RipJawsX 1600MHz? 8GB is more than enough though. :) Not sure on the PSU either, and 700W is probably overkill for you, I'd go for a Corsair CX600.

Other than that good, you set on the AMD system then?

Off to bed now. :D

yeah I'm set on AMD, not because I'm an AMD fanboy. But basically for me price/performance and I'm on a tight budget then. and yeah for 2 euro's more I'd have a force 3, so I'll do that instead. the PSU is fine as I want to eventually go 3-way CrossFire just for fun lol.

Yeah not too sure what the Patriot SSD is like, but the Corsair Force 3 is meant to be a great drive, so I'd go for that. :)

But yeah, a good build there Raz. :) What monitor are you using? 3-way CrossFire is going to be pretty useless and a waste of money if you're only using a 17" monitor.

Yeah at the moment, I'll hang on the 17" monitor. Might save up for 2 of these: http://www.alternate.nl/html/produc...LCbid/615601/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Monitoren&l2=LED

and possibly a 3rd one for funsies

Would not recommend going 3-way crossfire on that PSU. It'd be better to sell the two 6850s and get a really good single card.

And the PSU is not terrible-terrible, but I'd still opt for a better known brand.

Don't get 3 graphics cards if you're only going to be using a 17" monitor. I'd buy the bigger monitor(s) and the extra graphics card(s) at the same time if I were you.

I'm with claptonman on the PSU. Corsair, Seasonic, XFX, Antec, any of those, even OCZ.

I know, i was looking at the 7770 first but decided to go for 6850. basically because the clock speed is higher on the 7770 but the bus bandwith is lower and my current card is already faster than a friends gts450. Not on engine or gpu speed but bus bandwidth.

yeah, I'll see with the psu. this one is doing fine atm and dont see it blowing up on me soon (touch wood). But Also if I decide on 2 6850's for Xfire then I'll stay at 2 cards, and as claptonman said sell them for a better single card. like the 7970 or 680

That sounds like a good plan. 3 6850s would yield little results, since they're not that powerful on their own to push games at ultra settings at 1080. So your plan is good.

yeah, and im hangin on to my 17" until atleast after the summer so the second 6850 can wait
