Remove any USB drives or hardware you may have added and TAP F8 during POST and startup and it will give you the option to run last known good configuration. Try that.

If that doesn't work then TAP F8 again and start in Safe Mode with NEtworking and let us know when you're there.

That could be a few things.

Operate in Safe Mode with Networking while we fault diagnose.

I have a feeling this is your SATA drivers playing up. The drivers that make the HDD work.

In Safe Mode with Networking, can you please install PC Wizard (in my sig) and run it.

Go to FILE, SAVE AS and click OK. Copy and paste the contents of that text file into this thread.

Is it a fresh installation? When did this happen? Was your OS ok? And isn't Win7 a little bit too much for this system?

You should have ran the windows 7 upgrade advisor before trying to upgrade. I bet there is hardware that is not compatible with windows 7. Asus doesn't even list Vista drivers for it so I doubt at all if it be compatible.

It will be compatiable just install the XP drivers by using device manager and pointing the hardware to the downloaded and extracted driver.
