Building a new computer

I'm saving up for a new computer. I'm building it based around the FX-8120. Yes, I know the intel i5, i7 beats the 8120 in performance, but still. (: I'm on a low budget so this is not a beast computer. Just about a mid-end computer.

I currently need a case and do not know what to get. Can anyone help me?

CPU: AMD FX-8120
PSU: Corsair CX850
GPU: Radeon HD 6770
RAM: Corsair XMS3 16GB (4x 4GB) PC3-10666 1333MHz DDR3 Memory Kit (Change if you like)
Mobo: MSI 760GM-E51 (Replace with an ATX board instead if you want. Low price, 4 RAM slots, etc. Pretty much base the basic features around that of the MSI 760GM-E51 board)
Case: .....

At your budget, I'd get the 6100. Would notice little to no performance increase from a 8120. But if that's what you really want.

If you would do that, you would have more to spend to upgrade your GPU, which would yield better FPS.

Any reason on the 850w PSU? Major overkill on this build. A good 500w PSU would power the 6770 and more. Hell, a quality 650w would power two 6770s.

And if its a mid-range gaming computer, get 8GB of 1600 RAM. Probably save you some money:

Thanks. I will most likely take those advice! (: The reason on the 850w PSU is because I saw somewhere it said I needed a 650w to run the 6770 HD so I was like I would want more power for my system so I picked out the 750w and noticed the 850w was only like $4 more I think. Yeah the 8gb 1600 sounds good. I have to use SDRAM for that mobo? I never understood if I had to use SDRAM or DRAM. I'm still leaning towards the 8120 though over the 6100 simply because there's 2 cores extra, but I've been reading that the 8120 is not worth it in some ways. I know there may not be much that support 8 cores, but I still feel like I should get for the future atleast. I need like a major convincing on getting a hex-core over 8-core :P

EDIT: If getting the 6100 might as well get the 6200 instead?

EDIT2: So far this is what I got. Everything will be bought on Amazon.com

CPU: AMD FX-8120 ($180)
PSU: Corsair CX600 V2 ($63)
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6770 ($110)
RAM: Patriot Gamer 2 Series Division 2 Edition DDR3 8 GB PC3-12800 1600MHz ($44)
Mobo: MSI 760GM-E51 ($70)
Case: $50-100? (Need help choosing)

The 6100 can be overclocked to the speeds of a 6200 easily. A 6200 can be overclocked further.

But you will be upgrading your graphics card first, rather than the CPU. There will be no difference in fps with a 6100 vs a 8120, but there would be with a better graphics card.

Get a better motherboard. With processors, get the FX-6100 or the 8120. If you pay for a 6200 you might as well get the 8120. I've had three 6100 and one 6200. There is really not that much difference in how high they will clock. I've had two 8120 and one would clock alot better then the other. This one will do 4.5 with just 1.375V, the other one would take 1.425V. But price wise the 6100 and 8120 are the best deals.

Alright I guess I'll just get the 6100 vs 6200. I won't be doing any overclocking because I don't want to get deeper into this with custom coolers and messing with the bios and everything. I just like to run stock computers because it's simple. Between the 6100 vs 6200 is the price now for me I guess, but I'm leaning towards the 6200 with the default specs. As for overclocking if I ever do some of that, I would need advice on what to buy and such, but like you said the main goal here should be the GPU because all the video and graphics performance will be dependent mostly on the GPU.

EDIT: Ok. I guess the 6200 is removed from this selection? I guess the 6100 is my choice?

I still say for the price, I would get the 8120 over the 6200. Right now the 8120 is just 10 bucks more.

Alright 8120 it is lol. :P Ahhh I'm so bad at choosing. What about the mobo? Would should I get? To be honest, I don't know how to look for extra things in a mobo than what's not already on that board.

If your just going to be running a single video card.
About the best 970 board out there.

If you might want to run SLI or Crossfire.

Both have a 8+2 power phase. Low RDS (on) mosfets. 2oz copper PCB. Dual Bios. USB 3.0. Good cooler setup.

Edit.
Your power supply is pretty much overkill.
Either of these will do fine with overhead. I like Seasonic.

On his second post, he put a CX600. Which would be enough for a 6770. Not the greatest, but good budget unit.

And if he isn't overclocking, wouldn't he want the 6200 then? 3.8ghz at stock would probably beat a 3.1ghz 8120 at gaming.

Well if like Claptonman said, you would not be overclocking, the FX-6200 would be the fastest at stock clocks. The whole point in the FX are they are unlocked and easy to overclock and its just hard to recommend a 6200 over a 8120 because its just 10 bucks more and a 8 core. I overclock and that just puts the 6200 out because of price between the 6100 and 8120. I even own a 6200.

how far would the 8120 have to go to beat the 6200 when both are OC'd. Also since I'm in no rush what kind corsair cooling would I need and would I be fine with only the CX600 v2?

The 6100/6200/8120 all clock about the same. The biggest difference is how much voltage it takes to get there. The 6100s I have had all clocked about the same, but one of them would do it on alot less voltage. Same with the two 8120. This one would do it on less voltage then the other one.

Dont know what you mean by Corsair cooling.

Yeah the CX600 would be fine. The other two are higher quality.

Oh ok thanks. I meant Corsair Hydro Series CPU Cooler. Also what other two do you mean are higher quality? To be honest, I never tried to buy extra cooling besides using the ones that comes with the case and the CPU so I may not full understand how to work a water cooler and extra fans and stuff.

Coolers, I would just get one of these.

Will this work? Also do you think you can help me with the case that will fit all of this in it? After I find a case I can get, I'll have this build finished. (: Thinking about downgrading and/or removing the HDD to save some money. The HDD I am using on this HP computer right now is a SATA 1TB 7200 RPM I believe, so it should work.

Looks good. The harddrive will be fine.
This is better memory.

How much you want to spend on a case?

I was planning to keep this computer lower priced, but seems like that didn't happen lol. So maybe $150 or less? Something cheap please.
