Looking for laptop for gaming/college.

I'm looking to purchase the right laptop for me. I had an Acer 5253 BZ480 I sold Monday due to the 1.6ghz CPU. I am looking for the following:

Intel i5 sandy bridge or AMD Fusion must be faster than 2.1ghz.
6-8gb ddr3.
1080p graphics card preferrably AMD, NVIDIA is better but gets way too hot.
Must be dedicated gfx, not integrated
My goal is to be able to run Crysis and BF3 at mid settings, and Mass Effect and CoD4 at high settings, all while being able to research, type up papers and browse the web all day long.

Can I find a laptop with these specs for around 1k before tax?

Hold on, I'm looking at an Alienware M18x on newegg, how do I see if I'm eligible for a preferred account? I added the laptop to my cart and theres nothing on the page about a preferred account except instructions.

The Lenovo Y570 is not an option I would typically recommend, in the general case, because it comes with a 15.6" 1366x768 display.

15.6" 1366x768 displays limit multitasking and productivity because they make things onscreen large, and they tend to have poor image quality due to low contrast. I don't recommend this type of display to those who have a budget that allows them to get a laptop that has a better display and at the same time suits their needs, and who don't require large text for eyesight-related reasons.

-----------------

Don't make it a priority to meet your memory requirement right off the bat. If a laptop comes with less memory than you need, you can upgrade it yourself for very cheap. Memory requirements shouldn't get in the way of other components.

It also might be the case that you don't require more than 4GB, if you don't have something that particularly takes advantage of more memory, because most users don't need more than 4GB.

-----------------

Sager NP6165 (i5-2450M, GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 glossy display) - $949 + tax
- Scroll to the configuration option labeled "Operating System" and select Windows 7, or else the computer will ship without Windows installed.

Sager NP9130 (i5-2450M, GTX 670M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - $1095, no tax
- Scroll to the configuration option labeled "Operating System" and select Windows 7, or else the computer will ship without Windows installed.
- Downgrade the memory from 8GB 1600MHz to 8GB 1333MHz because it isn't likely that you will notice the difference.

-----------------

HP DV6t Quad Edition (i7-3610QM, NVIDIA GT 650M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte) - $999 + tax after coupon code NBY3752 + $75 more in upgrades to make the coupon valid.
- Don't downgrade either the GPU to the GT 630M or the display to 1366x768.
- Don't upgrade to the 2GB GPU because it isn't going to make a difference
- add $75 more in upgrades to make the coupon valid.

-----------------

For something more on the budget-end that still has a decent GPU and a 1920x1080 display

HP DV6z Quad Edition (A6-3420M, AMD Radeon 7690M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - $749 + tax after coupon code 25LOGICBUY. Don't downgrade the display to 1366x768; don't downgrade the GPU.

HP DV6z Quad Edition (A8-3550MX, AMD Radeon 7690M, 15.6" 1920x1080 matte display) - $799 + tax after coupon code 25LOGICBUY. Don't downgrade the display to 1366x768; don't downgrade the GPU. The A8-3550MX is 40% faster than the A6-3420M.

I'll be getting this one, I have 538 cash I'll transfer to my paypal account and I'll add 300 a month from there until I have enough to pay for it in full.

That laptop actually doesn't look very well priced, and the GTX 670M in the Sager NP9130 I linked is faster.

And the MSI not only allows paypal, but it comes with an i7 2.2ghz processor and 12 gb RAM. Its overkill. but then again I like overkill. ;D

There's a samsung I am looking at with an AMD A8-3510MX 1.8ghz-2.5ghz, 6gb DDR3, and a 6620g APU, and a dedicated AMD Radeon 7540m graphics chip. Am I right when I say this is a steal for $499.

I myself, would go with the sager...their build quality is quite awesome.

I would have no problem with sager except for paypal is really the only option for me when it comes to a full blown gaming laptop. I bank at a credit union who is financing my car and if 1k dollars disappeared from my account at once, a red flag would go up and my account would be closed until a thorough investigation was done, which can take upwards of months.

EDIT: I downgraded from an i7 to an i5.
