Cooler Master V8 vs Arctic Cooling Xtreme Rev 2

I'd go for the V8 myself given the choice. The Xtreme Rev 2 is pretty good though. How much do you want to spend?

Up to $50. That doesn't mean I want to spend that much. The reason I said no notura is because the $50 models don't seem all that great compared to others, and I can just put a Notura fan on a v8 or xtreme. Xtreme or v8, though? Any ideas? Got my wifi dongle today, finnaly typing this post with my desktop.

The Xtreme Rev 2 is 10 bucks less than the V8 on Newegg, so I'd get that.

Which Core 2 Quad are you looking at? Q8300 still?

Which one really cools it better though? I will really try to get a q9300, I hear they are great overclockers, and if I cant get the q9300, I will get the q8300, which is an okay overclocker.

For overclocking mate you really want a Q6xxx (such as the Q6600) or a Q9xxx chip, the Q8xxx chips aren't amazing overclockers. You can overclock them, but not that far. You'd be lucky to get around 700-1GHz overclock out of a Q8300.

Why is that great?

Because it is cheaper and performs better as I said...

that is for the EVGA superclock which is the exact same cooler, just painted black, rebranded and with $20 added onto the retail value. There aren't all that many reviews for the original Swiftech, but it performs the same, and performs better once you throw a couple of very good fans on there

And im looking at a v8, so if a that cpu cooler performs about the same as a v6, how about v8 vs that cooler? The v8 wins, of course.

No it doesn't, the V6 is a better cooler than the V8 is

The chart showst temperatures, so lower temperatures = better, you don't want it to be hotter
