Iam having trouble trying to repair my XP Operating System. The system its self won't start up and shows an error code 0x0000007E etc.
When I run my install or repair disc it does quite a bit then asks for the administer Password. As far as I remember there has never been a password created, so I have tried Enter, Esc, 0 and a few others but with no success.
The computer is over 8 years old by' Evesham' who no longer trade.
Is there any way around this or must I go for a new install.?
The computer has worked well over the years and I have Windows 7 dual booted on it with XP. I can still access Win 7 but not XP.

Usually with XP the administrator password is just blank, so you just press enter when it prompts for it in the recovery console.

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. I did google and came up with password cracker which you pay for but I am sure there never was a password so cracker would not help.
Going off now.

jin, I don't understand your comments, What I am trying to do is use the repair function on my Windows installation disc. Once it has copied files etc and is ready to run the repair it asks for my password which I don't have although I have owned the computer since new.
Hirens boot is not user friendly, I got nowhere with that. It started off downloading and stopped at 90%. various tables came up but with no directions of how to use.
I think I may have to go for a re-install.

I've never seen it ask for a password when doing a repair install. Your best bet probably would be to do install windows fresh as doing a repair install hardly ever fixes anything.

Yeah I've never seen it prompt for a password on a repair install either. I also recommend a fresh install.
