Computer Component Compatibility Check

Hey Guys, Just need some help on checking if my selected components are compatible, I've recently taken an interest in computers and am looking to build my own soon, now this component list isn't final so any and all suggestions are welcomed!

CPU: AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4100WMGUSBX

PSU: Antec's HCP-750 unifies raw power with advanced PSU engineering to meet the demands of high performing PCs. ($115.97 PSU)

Chassis/Case: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...r+Windowed+Chassis+w/+USB3.0+?productId=49651

I'm aware that the SSD etc may need 3.5" bracket adapters and that several components such as the HDD don't come with the necessary SATA cables etc. But don't worry as this isn't where i'll be purchasing from, and any accessories that are required will be bought!

Edit: I am aware that there is no optical drive by the way, this is not important and will be bought later along with the other necessary accessories.

Thanks, DisasterMaster

OK it's all good bar a few things. Firstly, a 750W PSU is overkill for this system, a good 600W PSU such as the Corsair CX 600 would be enough. I'd also swap the GtX 550 Ti or a Radeon 6850 as the 6850 is faster and sometimes cheaper than the 550 Ti. I'd spend less on the case too, maybe consider a Cooler Master HAF 912 or Cooler Master Enforcer or Corsair Carbide 300R or something.

Not all the links work. Looks pretty good tho. Will it be running games?
A couple thoughts:
The mb isn't optimal for CF or SLI since the 2nd slot would run @ x4. But not a bad thing since one strong card is usually better than getting 2 to be harmonious and needing more power. So, if your going to run 1 vc, 750w is more than needed. A quality 600-650w would be plenty.

Looks like everything should fit together just fine. Nice system by the way.
Ok thanks guys and to answer the few questions, yes this build will primarily be gaming and used for engineering and designing software, chances are I won't be adding another video card but as always thanks for the advice, and thanks to vistakid10 for that advice I'll be sure to change the PSU ASAP, and the video card I wasn't entirely satisfied with for the price so I'll be changing the video card and the case, again thank you all.

Ps. sorry if this reply comes out weird, I am new to forums and this one so hope this is still clear, really impressed with the reply speed and the advice, I'll be sure to post here again in the future if needs be!

Yeah sorry about that I meant to use Aria links but found them on Newegg faster and I found the tech specs easier to compare (for my amateur compatibility check) , and wow thanks again Vistakid10 you are being very helpful!

The Force 3 comes with a 3.5 bracket, so you're good there.

And agree with everyone else about spending more on the graphics card. And maybe less storage, unless you really are going to use 2TB of space anytime soon.

Maybe just go for a 1TB drive. I've got a 2TB drive myself and I struggle to fill it. I'm currently using 446GB of 2TB and scratching my head wondering if it was worth my money going for a 2TB drive when 1TB would have been more than enough. I've got system backups and videos and photos on my drive too.

Thanks Claptonman, I realise that 2TB is slightly overkill, especially for what this rig will be used for, will probably only get a 1TB HDD

Yeah definitely will find a lower capacity HDD, I don't think I actually know anyone that has filled a 2TB on a gaming rig, again thanks to all for the advise, i'll be sure to post an updated list of the new components after following all of your guys advise, will hopefully get around to that soon!

hey guys, I did make the new list, but it isn't all I'd hoped it would be and will be needing more advise, firstly I couldn't find half the components that I originally found on Newegg when I went on Aria, and some of the product descriptions and tech specs were not included on the Aria webpage, which meant a lot of traversing sites to find out specs. So chances are that I've made a few mistakes in terms of compatibility which leads me to my next point, what stores (UK based) have you bought components from and have been good? I'm not very impressed with Aria's products range as I stated earlier I couldn't find a few of the components I previously had and they seem to skip tech specs quite a lot.

On another note, I saw these two CPU's, both in the same series and both quad cores however one is offering 4.10 GHz and the other only 3.6GHz, the price difference between the two is about £20 odd so I'm not bothered about that, just wondered your guys opinions on this, is it worth upgrading to the 4.10GHz?
I feel if i did this then the 750w Antec PSU would be less overkill and I would probably be getting a better GPU so that PSU would probably then be on the spot?

CPU: AMD FX-4100 3.60GHz (3.80GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 4-Core Processor
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...3++4-Core+Processor+-+Retail+?productId=46818

OR

AMD FX-4170 4.20GHz (4.30GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 4-Core Processor

Please get back to me ASAP, would be greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks, DisasterMaster :)

Hi there,

I always buy from Novatech myself (novatech.co.uk) or Dabs (dabs.com), they're both good and tend to have a wide range of stuff to buy.

I would just get the FX-4100 and overclock it to around 4.2GHz, you're going for an aftermarket cooler aren't you for the CPU?

You still wouldn't need a 750W PSU with the higher-clocked quad-core, a Corsair CX 600 or TX 650 would be fine for you build. Don't buy stuff you don't need.
