It's a good board. I recommend you get it over the Z68 Extreme4 you were looking at. Z77 is a newer, faster and cooler chipset. I put a link to one in your build thread.
Yes, i7s are not needed at ALL for gaming over a i5, if they give a difference in gaming, it will be unnoticeable, a i7 is mainly for video rendering, CAD, etc.
I saw the gold cap capacitors and my eyes lit up. I also really like it's 3.0 x16 pci-e support, cards are starting to be made this way so it's great to finally see motherboard support for them. Great to have some onboard video in case a gpu dies on you too. Asrock gets good and bad reviews but this appears to be one of their better offerings.
