I'm new! Is everything here compatible?

Hey Guys!

I'm new to the forum and am in the process of building my first computer.
All the parts that I want to order (actually, I've already ordered the case, power supply and optical drive) are in my signature, all I want to know is if they're are all compatible and will work smoothly together.

Thanks :)

I can only make 2 recommendations here.

1. Spend another 5 bucks and get the 2600k cpu instead.
2. Stay away from hitachi hard drives, get either western digital or seagate.

Yep get the 2600K and get a GTX 560 Ti if you can. If you don't want to spend the extra for a 560 Ti, drop the 'plain' 560 and get a Radeon 6870 - the 6870 is faster and about the same price. Also don't buy from Zotac, go for EVGA, ASUS or MSI. I'd get a 1TB Seagate Barracuda such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148840 it's a fast and large drive. :) You'll be happy with it. :D

Other than that it all looks fine.

I have to agree with people on here regarding about WD or seagate. as well as for the video card, theyve been me to it.

I actually have a friend that can be able to hook you up for better price with all those

Green drives are 5400rpm. S-L-O-W.

Something like this would be good:

Sadly that one you linked to only has 16MB cache buffer. You really want a 7200 RPM disk with either 32MB or 64MB cache buffer, but this 16MB cache buffer will do.

$10 more, 250 GB more storage, and better brand.
Seagate are the largest hard drive company on the planet, they're pretty much top notch. Unless you were saying that that drive was better than the OP's original choice of HDD which was the Hitachi?

Anyhow, WD Green drives run at 5900 RPM, so they're a bit slow sometimes. I've got one and I only use mine for storage but yeah it is a bit slow at times.

Thanks everyone. Although the real question is: Is everything here compatible?

Please Answer :)

Thanks :). My current problem is that I can't seem to take out a blank to slide in my Optical Drive. There are no tabs to pull or anything. I have a photo attached.

Put a screw driver in it and move it back and forth till the tabs break. They are tear-away, so no putting them back.

Hitachis come out with a lot of top level innovations and usually beat the other companies to higher storage space, but their quality control is a bit of a risk. I generally go with Samsung/WesternDigital, Seagate being a third choice. Have not had any problems with the first two, but I have with Seagate. I do however like their Momentus XT's, a friend of mine highly recommends them. Says they are the best deal on drives, larger hd space with some ssd performance mixed in for an affordable price.

Can you tell me about your friend? I really need to buy another GPX and EVGA 460 GTX or something along this line would be great at a discounted price.
