So was just getting back into the market of buying a new high end pc and its been a good couple of years since ive used my pc for gaming so im a little behind on the new specs, I got sent through these parts and im not sure if i should stick with them or not the price i was given is $4000 AUS, What do you all think of the components + the price?

Intel i7 3930K 3.2GHz Hex Core (12MB Cache) Liquid Cooled
32GB Vengence 1600MHz Gaming RAM
240GB SSD Vertex III
2 x GTX 580 3072MB Phantom
Blu-Ray-RW - 2TB SATA3 Hard Disk
Coolermaster 1000W 80+Gold Power Supply
NZXT Phantom Full Gaming Tower
Windows 7 Pro (64 Bit)

OK, the CPU is overkill for gaming, a 3770K or even a 3570K would be enough. The RAM is also overkill, 16GB or even 8GB would be fine. The PSU is good but there are better 1000W units out there, Seasonic make some good ones.

Thanks would you recommend then sticking with the hex core or downing it to a high end quad? I also agree just form looking at it that 32G is way overkill aha XD

Go for a 3570K and overclock the heck out of it, and yeah get 2x 680s. :) I'd get 16GB of RAM. It is overkill now but it's not much overkill as a 32GB is lol. :D

You'll need a different motherboard to the one you're looking at if you use a 3570K. The 3930K and 3570K run on different sockets.

I was thinking that i would change the CPU to a Intel i7-3820 and then put a Intel DX79TO Motherboard in it + two 2G GTX680's :) as for the PSU i was thinking of getting the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...r1c3grabb3r-_-Power+Supplies-_-XFX-_-17207019 instead ive been told there half decent

If you want to spent that much then stick to the unlocked 3930K, if you want to get the best performance for price then 3570K beats the 3930K in gaming. The 3930K will be future proof though.

A 3570K is also going to be more than adequate for gaming for a long while. I know people who still game on Q6600s and Q9300s, CPUs which were released 4-5 years ago, so I reckon a 3570K is gonna hold up for at least 2-3 years.

A 3770K is also going to be more than adequate for a long while yet. :) You really don't need to spend the extra on the Socket 2011 CPUs for gaming - stick to 1155.

Agreed, 1155 is the way to go, but guys, don't underestimate the CPU grunt required to feed GTX580 SLI.
