Final thought on my new rig

I'm on a very tight budget, I might be able to change processors though. The case I chose simply because of the cooling. It comes with 3 120mm fans and 1 140mm. Great airflow.

The case does not have any cable management features so actually airflow is going to be pretty poor as all of those cables will obstruct the airflow as there is nowhere to hide them. Pretty poor case IMO. I'd definitely change the case before the CPU. The 300R is a great case.

If you're on a tight budget, perhaps spend less on the video card and get a 6870 instead (such as this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150521) and then use the money you saved into a better CPU, set of RAM and case. The 6870 is still a great performer, it's not as fast as the 6950 you were looking at though.

Alright I've managed to changed everything you mentioned staying within my budget and keeping the graphics card. The case I chose is different than your suggestion. It's the AZZA TOLEDO 3somethin or other. Looks nice has big fans and plenty of ventilation and cable management. Anymore input?

Might be wrong, but I dont think the 955 HDX955WFK4DGM is unlocked.
No it's not unlocked, I think only the Black Edition processors are unlocked.

That case is OK but the 300R is a nicer all rounder.

The 955 is unlocked, it's a black edition processor, newegg just failed to state that. But if I were ddc, I'd go for this:

Performs in many cases better than the 955 and is newer technology. The phenoms life cycle is almost up.

Or if you can wait, piledriver may be just around the corner, no specified release date yet though.

Could be. But here is at least one 955 model that isn't unlocked and the NE one doesn't have the Black letters in the prod. number.I'm with you on the 6100.

If I had to I would leave the cooler off or maybe you have a burner for now till the rebates came back, and do something more like this.
FX-6100

CX600 combo. Get the Neo if you can but this one is good.

2x4gb G.Skill 1866 for $50 if you get the emails. If you don't get them and you sign up now, you can click the link to current deals in the sign up confirmation email they send you.

Edit: HDX955WFK4DGM is not a Black unlocked processor. Basically made for oem's. Not a good choice. PIB's are Black. Looks like there are at least 3 955's. C2 @140w, C3 Black PIB 125w, and C3 OEM 95w.
