well, for the price I think the 3820 is the better choice for me, the 3820 being $299 and the 3770k being $349.

just curious. Why do you need LGA 2011 chip? The LGA 1155 is better choose for gaming.
LGA 2011 is no different from LGA 1155 for gaming, and before Ivy bridge was released, the Sandy Bridge-E platform was the best you could get.

Ah. okay. LGA 2011 is great for gaming but also it work great with photo and video edit.
That is also why I was looking at LGA 2011. I am also using it for Photo, Video and Graphic editing.
I still reckon an overclocked 3770K would be enough to be honest. I do video editing and photo editing on my overclocked 2500K and it holds up fine.
