Black Screen

I was attempting to install ubuntu 11.10 along side windows by partitioning the system. I think I might have messed up in the partitioning process or ubuntu messed me up because I remember upon installation of ubuntu my computer froze! Probably not the best idea but as my computer had completely stalled in the middle of an installation I had no choice but to power reset my comp.
Upon trying to restart my computer, I get nothing on the screen. It's COMPLETELY black. I don't get any beep form the computer saying anything is wrong. I do hear the fan working and the computer is powered.
I've tried a number of processes including reinstalling linux. I get nothing. If anybody has any solutions or at least can get me started on diagnosing the problem I would really appreciate it!!!

You're sure all hardware in your system supports ubuntu?

fairly certain. My system has 4 gb of Ram. Runs the E2220 Intel Dual Core Processor. Has 640 GB of Hard Drive Memory. Most of all, and more importantly is that I'm not even getting onto the boot screen. I don't think its necessarily the OS itself (though it could be). I tried to press things like f12 or f2 or f6 to get something(Anything!) on the screen and it didn't work.

So you dont boot to the dvd disk at all? I need you to be clear. When you put the Ubuntu disk in the DVD tray and try to boot from it what happens?

Is there anything on the hard drive you cant live without?

Not getting anything

I get nothing. Even when I try to boot Ubuntu from tray I get a black screen. Seeing as I can't access the boot menu or even the bios for that matter, I have no idea where to start.
Nothing on the harddrive I can't live without. I just need everything to work.\
My guess was that when installing the ubuntu somehow I messed up with the harddrive. That still doesn't explain why I can't even access the boot menu.
Also notice I wrote before that I don't get any beep errors or even a beep that says the BIOS is or is not working.
