Been trying to correct a BSOD error. By reading I have installed blue screen view ran and made a copy, posted below. I ran chkdsk last night. It took a couple hours, but said no disk errors....
Right now not crashing immediately.
Uninstall your video card drivers and reinstall them. Thats what this bsod is representing. If that don't help, would assume you have a bad video card.
As we were writing, I crashed again. restarted, safe mode. Would not let me uninstall. Rebooted , control panel/ AMD Cataylst, no unistall option, only repair or change. selected repair.
AMD Radeon 6800

AMD Radeon 6800
I just ran ASUSPC diagagnostic and a stress test of the video "display adapter". The adapter passed both stress tests...
It says a driver version 8.961.0.0 is installed.
I go to control panel\hardware , look up the radeon 6800 click on driver,
but it won't allow uninstall.
Now what?
OK. Went to AMD site and got AMD Cataylst and that allowed uninstall.
Then reininstalled. During this procedure, the manager stated that You already have the correct version, do you want to replace? I selected yes.
So reinstalled all 153 MB of Catalyst. Seems stable, but will repost if issue reappears. Thanks a bunch.
As I was updating my profile I crashed again. This time no blue screen, just went black. As I am writing this got diaglog box saying display adapter just stopped responding and recovered.
So.. I guess you were right....
New blue screen txt attached.
This motherboard was replaced under warrantee in Feb. and been having trouble ever since. Next step to contact PC builder? Thanks
That bsod is related to memory but could be system memory or video card memory. Can you try using a different video card? I would also suggest running memtest on your memory to confirm they are good.
Do not have alternate video card.
ASUS PC diagnostic was run and it shows both memory and video card passed stress tests. Ran widows error report, it shows issues with ATI.exe multiple times. Have contacted manufacturer Cyberpower to see if they cover thus under warrantee. Error report very large, dating to new MOBO install.
Will try and get memtest iso asap. I'm done for tonight. Thanks
Decided to install memtest before I went to bed to let it run overnight. Downloaded file, made boot disk and booted to disk.
At this writing it had run for 6+ hours with 7 passes and had no errors.
Went to AMD site and they just happen to have a whole page dedicated to how to recover from this... http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticle...TIKMDAGhasstoppedrespondingerrormessages.aspx
We are doing what they suggest.
No help on why when driver update continues to install version 12.3 even when 12.4 is selected...? I'll see if I can call them. Thanks again.
As part of AMD's trouble shooting they ask if the system crashes in any particular program (or game). I crash just viewing the web. Been using Mozilla Firefox. AMD lists this as a source of recurring problems. Researched Mozilla web site http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes
they say that if Adobe Flash 11.3 is installed to uninstall and goe back to 11.2 which is know to be stable and select "notify me" instead of auto install for updates. This is probably the issue. Will try this as soon as I can get back to it.:good:
