video card going bad???

Is there anyway to find out if my video card is bad? I have a BGF Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS card.
My computer components are:
Asus P5Q MB
Intel E8400 cpu
2 GB Ram
2/ CD-DVD payers/burners
23" Asus Led monitor - VH236H

I recently upgraded from Win XP to Win 7 Home Premium.
Since I upgraded the text on web pages is so small that I can hardly read it,and if I move from one page to another and then back the text is real faint in color. I was also having some problems before I upgraded to Win 7 and got the new monitor. Old monitor was a Microtech 17"( 815C model )I did change the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1680x1050 and that did help some.
Thanks for any help

When you change your resolution to 1920x1080 of course the text gets smaller. That's perfectly normal... Theres nothing wrong with your card. Changing the resolution of your monitor makes things appear smaller since it's a much bigger area to work with. It's just something you're going to have to get used to.

If your card was dying you'd see artifacting or lines on your screen.

Thanks Alien! Where? I know that changing the resolution to a higher # makes things look smaller. What is artifacting? Also what would cause the text to become real light/faint when I go to one web page to another and then back again? (example- I go from this forum question to another one and then back to this one) the text is sometimes so light/ faint that I can hardly read it.
Is there anyway to test my video card for performence?

Are you using Internet Explorer while the text becomes light/faint?

And to test your video card, you could try playing a PC game.

And this is artifacting:

See how the screen looks all triangular, and the objects on the screen look like triangles?

Re: Alien! Where? Thanks for the link on artifacting. No, my pages do not look like that. Yes, it is internet explorer. I have done some adjustments on my computer and it has helped a lot. I don't play many games, just simple ones like Bejeweled2 and so forth.
Maybe in the near future I'll get a new video card, because from what I've read mine is no longer made and can't get support from BGF.Also in the perforence of components on my computer it shows the card as 45%.I'm looking to spend up to $100. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help.

I found out what your problem is then, Internet Explorer has an option called "ClearType" which makes your text appear lighter than usual.

I recommend that you try downloading and using Google Chrome, it is a web browser, but it much better than Internet Explorer.

https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/

It is a much simpler, and faster web browser and most of the others on this forum (including I) use it.

And if you're looking for a Video Card upgrade:
