Scam MS call, is this Coincidence

I downloaded MS updates and mistakenly download Bing which changed my desktop etc, I do not want Bing so I had to do a delete and a restore to get rid of it.
Anyway while doing this I got one of those scam calls supposedly from MS telling me that they had indications that I had faults and viruses on my system, to which I told them where to go.
So I wonder now was this coincidence or are they tracking my system?

It's just random coincidence.
 
That was not MS, those are scam artists wanting access to your system to install their own rogue software. Do not allow anyone access to your system.

Has nothing to do with the first part. Unless you were fooled and was sent somewhere else pretending to be Microsoft updates.

Yeah Bing Desktop. It's a new thing from Microsoft which updates your wallpaper to the latest photo on the Bing homepage and it also puts a search bar on your desktop. It's optional so it's not a terribly important or mandatory update.

You can uninstall updates you know.
 
Havent been to updates since sometime laast month. I can see pushing Bing, but my god. Having a Bing Desktop as a update, lol.

You have to remember its MICROSOFT we are dealing with here. Just goes to show you how much they are pushing their own software.
